Why YA Is for Everyone

The Tannery Series teams up with the Boston Book Festival to explore the vibrant, vital world of Young Adult books–featuring authors Rachel DeWoskin, Carolyn Mackler and Cindy Rodriguez.

YA novels explore some of the most difficult experiences any adult will ever face—death, difference, heartbreak, suffering. So, it should be no surprise that YA has a readership that reaches far beyond young adults. Join The Tannery Series and three award-winning authors for a conversation about what matters to young adults and to readers of all ages who read YA books. What role does writing aimed at young adults play in raising readers of every age?

On the Program:

Rachel DeWoskin, whose fourth novel, Blind, is a profound, moving story about love, loss and what it truly means to see.

Carolyn Mackler, whose new book, Infinite in Between, explores coming of age with unforgettable wit and tenderness.

Cindy Rodriguez, whose debut novel, When Reason Breaks, takes a fearless look at despair, healing and poetry in the lives of two remarkable, modern heroines.

The program will include a reading, conversation and plenty of time for Q&A. Teens, tweens and YA readers of all ages are welcome.
